What is Mons Liposculpturing?

Mons Liposculpturing is a quick procedure that takes anywhere between 30 to 40 minutes from start to finish and essentially enables a woman to “sculpt” her pubic area as she desires.

This procedure primarily focuses on the fatty mons pubis and labia majora. They are the regions above the pubic bone that are generally more prominent in women. The phases of a woman’s life like weight-loss, weight-gain, pregnancy, childbirth or even ageing in general can alter the appearance of the pubic area making it enlarged, protrude more or can make the skin droopy and seem to be overhanging. Such changes can be noticeable especially when wearing tight-fitting clothes and during social situations causing a feeling of lowered self-confidence and discomfort for many women. Thus, many women prefer the undergo this procedure to minimize the size of their pubic area.

Before beginning the procedure, the patient will need to have a consultation with the surgeon. The patient will be asked a series of questions, like medical history, allergies, etc., to determine whether they are a suitable candidate for the surgery. Furthermore, the doctor would give certain pre-operation instructions to the patient, such as quitting smoking for at least two weeks prior to the surgery or halting the consumption of alcohol, so that the any complications due to the procedure can be minimized and also ensure smooth and fast recovery.

After administering local or general anesthesia, an incision is made during the surgery is very small to favor as small and as minimally visible as a scar as possible. Excess fat is suctioned from the pubic area using a cannula.

How can you decide if this procedure is right for you?

Consultation before the surgery is mandatory to analyse the patient to the best of the doctor’s knowledge. There some basic criteria which can help you decide if you would be benefitted from this procedure.

You would be a suitable candidate if:

  1. You are at least 18 years old.
  2. Are in good health (both mentally and physically)
  3. Have an enlarged mons pubis
  4. Have overhanging, saggy or droopy skin around the pubic area.
  5. Have good skin elasticity.
  6. Are often very self-conscious about the appearance of your pubic area.

  8. You feel that the appearance of your pubic area might be distorted away from your liking due to pregnancy, childbirth, obesity, weight-gain, weight-loss or any other such factors.

Recovery

It is very common for patients to experience inflammation, mild pain and irritation. Medication can be provided to cope with these symptoms.  The entire recovery process normally takes 3 to 4 weeks. This period can vary from one individual to another.

A compression garment should be worn post the surgery for a minimum of 2 weeks (subject to change depending upon the patient) to ensure proper shaping of the mons pubis. Routine work like going to the workplace can be resumed about 1 week after the surgery.  A detailed, tailored, set of instructions will be provided to the patient by the doctor to help in speedy recovery.

The results of the surgery are best seen usually after 6 weeks.
